Not living at home anymore means a lot more expenses. The prices are overall cheaper than in Austria! But didn't wanna miss the opportunities to travel or go out. Food, Travel, Nightlife: was more expensive than at home. Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.

Always bring TWO cards! Cerdit and bank card! If you lose one, you have at least another one! Subsrice for the UASIN newsletter at the international center, it is the best way to get second-hand everything from books to furniture! Suprisingly, I had no money problems although I travelled and went out a lot. Cost-saving tip: grocery shopping once a week at "Superstore" - really cheap and great range of goods. for smokers: bring cigarettes with you! one package was about 7 EUR!! I wanted to try and experience everything new and travel as much as possible. Also I got used to the local lifestyle which was more 'eating out orientated' than the one in Finland. Food is pretty expensive compared to Austria, so rather go for shopping once a month and then to cheap supermarkets further away like superstore or save on foods. I spent more because it was my intention to enjoy my time in Canada as intensly as I could, to make the best out of it, to see the country and go out as often as I could. Furthermore books, alcohol (high taxes) and food were more expensive than in my homecountry. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Since i live with my family at home, most the expenses i incur is minimal and included with family spending.Also have a currency that is weak against the dollar, inevitable created a higher cost of living.
