HOUSING

Marine Science/Oceanography, Independent
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Campus accomodation is getting more and more expensive year by year. We are talking about $800/month !
Personal comments:
It is great, located in the forest, up the hill - 10 minutes from the beach. Spacious, but is getting more and more expensive year by year. We are talking about $800/month ! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Demetres, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London, United Kingdom
Marine Science/Oceanography, Independent
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Well, downtown Santa Cruz, I guess. There is the main street called Pacific avenue. Most nightclubs, cinemas and cafes are there. Other than that, nothing else special. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
Great communication in English. Americans are friendly and speak a lot to strangers. If you want to learn English is a great place to come. Many literature programmes offered here as well. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
