HOUSING
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Is the place where everything happens, you are close to everything, libarry, Uni´s pubs and lecture rooms, plus you get to know all the people on campus, and attend to the flat parties which are good, or when you go out you can come back to your flat and keep the party going!
Personal comments:
Living on campus was the best, one cool thing is that we had a cleaner, and you get to live with more people, in my case they were mostly english people so I got contact with natives and international students as well, it was just the perfect balance.

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
On campus entertainment is great, there are a number of pubs inside campus, the SU pub, and Mondo, Level 2, plus another small chillout pub up some stairs... plus Mondo and Level 2 become some sort of clubs after 9:00, until 2:00 am, and there is a larger venue like a club which is the Underground, great as well, plus in Colchester there are a number of clubs and pubs and places to go, too much party going on there.

ACADEMIC
My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
Courses were good, high level, and a lot of personal work for the students, the essays you have to write are not that hard but can be demanding in terms of the research you need to do.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
Academic life is ok, it leaves you the opportunity to choose how and when you want to work, but then if you dont work at all you´ll be failing for sure.

Language difficulties
Social
KEY:
No problems.
I coped pretty well.
Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Personal comments:
I´ve been studying english for 6 years or more, so I already speak it quite good, but coming to england helped me out to get a better understanding and a cool posh accent, plus I write a lot better in english, because of the practice in writing essays.

EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:
Very easy.
Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Family
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
The UK is expensive, so expect higher prices in everything, but do take advantage of student prices, which help a lot, plus ask english students where to buy cheap stuff, like there is in Colchester a place called One pund shop and you can get lots of stuff for one pound.
Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Transport is REALLY expensive, prepare to pay three times what you pay at home for a normal ride on the bus. That´s why its great to live on campus, you dont use it that much, at least not daily to get to your classes.
