Type of housing: On campus

If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Living on campus was extremely convinient because I had easy access to classes and to the majority of services I need like library, laundry, pubs and I liked to live with foreign students from various countries.
Personal comments:
In general I consider my experience on campus a positive one. My room was of the right size and near to all the facilities of the university. A possible aspect to improve was a renewing of the building and of the common space like the kitchen. However the university had already started to restructur the oldest buildings. Why? The Essex campus was very well catered, including a super market, a stationary shop, cafeteria and restaurant
Personal comments:
The accomodation in the towers was a bit uncomfortable, since each flat had 16 rooms in 16 storey buildings built at the same time with the University. The Houses on the other hand are very modern small flats with 4-6 people in them. The cleaning service that did all communal spaces every day and the rooms every week, day was a big plus! Why? because it makes life easier being a full time student for a postgraduate degree.
Personal comments:
I don't live in a university owned accomodation but in the private sector. Yet, the university has provided me with a list of private sector accomodations which standard are constantly checked by the University and the quality is satisfactory. Why? It is a compact campus, so campus accommodation ensures that you are able to get to the lecture halls within 5 min. On top of that, you save a lot of time (inbetween library, gym, home)when you living on campus.
Personal comments:
I was there for half a year and lived in one of the Towers on campus. It looks quite daunting from the outside and the fact that you are suppose to live in a flat with 13 people (14 incl. you) doesn't help either. But once I got there, I had 13 friends straight away and the best time. The kitchen is a big communal area. If you feel a bit bored, there's always someone in there who you can talk to. The kitchen is cleaned every day and so is the bathroom. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? Is the place where everything happens, you are close to everything, libarry, Uni´s pubs and lecture rooms, plus you get to know all the people on campus, and attend to the flat parties which are good, or when you go out you can come back to your flat and keep the party going!
Personal comments:
Living on campus was the best, one cool thing is that we had a cleaner, and you get to live with more people, in my case they were mostly english people so I got contact with natives and international students as well, it was just the perfect balance. Why? It was a great way to meet people and convenient to get to class, safe and friendly and not too far from town
Personal comments:
I thought living in the towers was great fun, I met 15 people in my first day there. The room was big enough and cheaper than private housing and the internet connection was great to have. My flatmates and I cooked for each other and made trips to the supermarket together so it was like living with a family away from home. I loved being able to get up 10 minutes before class and still make it there on time! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? Accommodation is very reasonably priced, provides everything you need, and gives you the chance to meet lots of other students.
Personal comments:
Accommodation ranges in price and standard but campus living, particularly for first years, is a great way to meet lots of people and become accustomed to university life. It is convenient for getting to classes on time and there are plenty of eateries, shops, and banks on campus. Wivenhoe Park provides pleasant surroundings for living and studying, and there are plenty of ducks around. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? I like living outside university. It gives me a chance to engage myself in my local community and become more aware of the local culture.
Personal comments:
The university offers a broad range of student accommodation, from shared facilities to family apartments, all at a very reasonable price and value for money. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? Campus environment is great and a good way to make friends both short term and long term.
Personal comments:
Accommodation is varied, but the towers have a community feel and a party atmosphere. Everyone is really good friends and supportive of each other and have good fun. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? I lived in the Quays. It is too far from campus, especially when it gets cold and it is also very expensive. I do not recommend anyone should live there.
Personal comments:
If you are a first year student, it is best to live in the Towers where all the parties are. You may think that this will not help you learn much, and you are correct. However, nobody really learns much at the University anyway. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
