The University of Glasgow, founded in 1451, is the second oldest university in Scotland and the fourth oldest in Britain. The magnificent Main Building of the University, designed in Gothic style by Sir George Gilbert Scott, is one of the city's best known landmarks. The University has been on this site since 1870 when it moved from the city centre.

Simply because at home I used to live with my family (now I'm on my own). In the second place, UK is almost three times more expensive than Italy. Lukily that is not an absolute truth...
Food, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Travel, Nightlife: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
The student card in UK is a powerfull tool for saving money. The tip of the day is to look aroud for any benefit this can grant.

The rent for student accomodation was was the double than in Finland. The food at the University was also more expensive( and worse) so I cooked a lot at home.Nightlife was definitely cheaper than Finland, for example cinemas and pubs.
Travel, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Overall, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Food, Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.

Prices are really on par with the dollar (at least in 97 they were check you current spot rates and foward rates to get an idea before you go)

Food was provided by a canteen in the accomodation. I used a lot the mobile. Acccomodation was a bit expensive, but food was provided. so it was almost equal. If you use the student opportunities travel is very easy and cheap. The phone expenses were the highest I ever had and so I spent a lot in the overall evaluation.

When I first arrived, I spent a lot of money because I did not know the city so I took the wrong transport, shopped in expensive supermarket.

The strength of the GBP made my experience quite expensive in my home currency.

Probably the best tip would be to take advantage of the many student discounts that are available. Look out for coupons and such which are distributed on campus during orientation week.

i think you MUST enjoy as much as possible every second in your life whenever you have the chance....i could save 600-700 £ but i'm sure i did the best....in that way i won't regret any second!!!! ;-)
