Personal assessment
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? On the campus, there were almost only first year student, whereas I was in my penultimate year ! the cohabitation was sometimes fun but I'd rather be in a house/appartement close to the campus
Personal comments:
you get used to the sharing, we really don't know that in France, that's a good thing, but there were cleanliness issues and noise ! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Club China White and Club Suit 34 are the best dancing places; Caliente for a great Latin night; Father & Sons for a cheap drink and good talks with fellow students; the Yuks Yuks Club for stand-up comedy that makes tears roll down your face.... My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Make sure you take at least two seminar-type lessons. They're much better if you want to get involved in the class, and give you a greater chance of interacting with Canadian students. Both professors and students are always more than willing to exchange their points of view with international students.

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. How much did you improve your English?
My level before: No problems in any areas (including slang) My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) Personal comments:
The University of Ottawa is bilingual: roughly 40% of the classes can be chosen in french. On campus, you can choose whether you want to speak french or english with some people, though sometimes the English and the French communities are two separate ones. EXPENSES

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Other Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings Government assistance Work opportunities:
I didn't want/need to work Personal spending habits:
Room on campus came with phone (free local calls) and Canadians don't use mobile phones very much which saves call costs. The 15% tax on top of everything is kind of annoying though. Food, Travel, Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home. Nightlife, Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
cook for yourself if you want to save money and the uni meal plans are a waste of money. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Just how much fun you will have! and how hard it would be to leave! Time flies by so fast when you are on exchange. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It's a small campus but still loads of things to do. Very similar in teaching method to Australia. Diverse student body and Canadians are very open and welcoming. FINAL COMMENTS
Go. It will be one of the most memorable times of your university studies. You will meet great people, make loads of friends and never want to leave!! And the snow and winter time in Canada is an experience you don't want to miss (coming from someone who hates the cold!). This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
