You have a lot of choices. Since I lived off campus the school has no responsibility so I will not hold them accountable. Hence, since I did not live "at this university" this comment is maybe not that important. A general comment: Austin rents are quite steep and location is everything - especially if you do not own a car.

6th street has something for everyone and it is almost impossible to mention any one place in particular. We usually met up at the Aquarium and continoued from there. Personally I did one thing wrong: I did not spend enough time exploring the musical venues and the hidden secrets of Austin. Got to know places such as the Elephant room - a lovely jazz place - first in my last two weeks. Try to stear away from the beaten tracks once in a while and you will be amazed about what the town can offer!Austin is wonderful!

Final comments
Have fun and mingle with both americans and international. Try to get a lot out of the social life and not only school. I was able to participate in all social activities while earning a GPA of 3.75 - so can you. It only requieres a little dicipline.

Course recommendations
Professor Oran Brigham's courses is absolutely highly recommended. A lot of work but it is worth while. I had him in both strategy and entrepreneurship.

Not really. It is just diffenret from how things are done in Europe. Something are better and somethings are not. The exams are sometimes a little less challenging then what I am used to and they come more often.

Personal spending habits
I changed my lifestyle somewhat when I came to Austin. Due to the relatively short stay we wanted to get the most out of everything and that comes with a cost. Accomodation however was due to higher average costs.

Personal comments
If you rent furniture - locate the Aaron Rents outlet where they have used furniture. Will cut you costs substantially - at least 50%. Also, be careful about what services you ask for fromt the telephone companies. They try to make you think that you need all kinds of expensive services when what you really need is only a line.
