State st. is the place to be. However, the crowd is quite young, so for the more mature audience, one should visit the Square and its surrounding cafes/restaurants.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Living on campus is by far the best way to meet the local students and get fully integrated into the college community. Furthermore, living on campus is very convenient, since you are close to all the different facilities.

I don't particularly like the American accent, but the state of Wisconsin is not that bad, so I coped. Since, only few Americans speak a foreign language, one had to speak english in order to communicate with the locals.

Use the internet to call home. Skype is a good one. Shop on the internet for just about everything. Amazon.com holds everything you need. Shop at the big warehouses for furniture etc. Target is very cheap.
