Course recommendations:
There are not many courses purely for foreign students, which I suppose is to be expected, but also if you are expected to do a piece of written work, they tend to be long, with little or no provision made for the fact that you are a foreigner. Apart from that, all courses I have attended have been well taught, and enjoyable.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
More varied, especially non-literary, courses for foreign students. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

You are in control of your academic destiny at German universities so be prepared for the independence! No deadlines
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Although there is your independence and lack of deadlines- don't make the mistake of putting things off till the last minute_ The papers are a bear and do require more time than average American student standards! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Basically, I am not very agree with the system in general. I strongly believe that there are some subject which should be studied by everybody in every faculty, such as Law, Econimics, Informatic. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Just a general advice: a title of a course may sound very interesting, but the teacher is very bad, and may occure the opposite. So at first you have to try so many courses you find good for you and chose the best teachers.

Course recommendations:
you are treated as an adult here. You are responsible for the information. You can attend lecture, discussions or labs at will. If you know or can learn the material, you can ignore everything all semester and just pass the test or write the paper at the end. The professors aren't bothered by little things, and are available to you if you ask them for help.

They have a wonderful German as a Second Language program. Take any of the courses there. Also, the choices of classes in Germanistik are very broad.

If your German is really advanced try to take classes with Germans!
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I wish that the academics were more structured. The classes for German students weren't structured, but there was more expected of you, so one MUST take initiative. The classes for German as a second language classes were so unorganized and it seemed like the professors didn't care too much how the students did. You could almost never go to class and write an ok paper at the end of the term and get a good grade. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
