HOUSING
by willi, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Vienna, Austria
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Dorm of uni Talllinn
Why? Much cheaper than any apartment - prices in tallinn are crazy and international students are regularly ripped off!
But getting a dorm-place might be hard if you are not at tallinn university... but give it a try!
Personal comments:
EBS doesn't provide any dorm or similarities... they arrange apartments, but even so they are quite well located and big they seemed overpriced to me. Organizing housing on my self was a good joice for me and i would also recommend it to others! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Julia, FH Joanneum, Graz, Austria
Business Studies, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Nightlife: some clubs that have to be seen: Hollywoold, Parlament, Terrarium; best place to drink cocktails is Kaheksa! Everything else you have to discover yourself! watch out for university and esn events! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Some subjects I chose weren't that nice after all, but still learned a lot. Some teachers hard to connect with as EBS is a private university and the teachers and professors have other things to do then just teaching. Especially my Psychology and Sociology class were very interesting.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
The way of examining was a bit chaotic, which sometimes made sure I wasn't well prepared for a test. But as I always went to class this was never a real problem, but it is if you're a lazy bastard who rather sleeps then pays attention! Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: At ease in most situations How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
Estonian is a quite difficult (14 cases) but very interesting language. You will no need it for the daily life in Tallinn as nearly everyone can speak English, but it's nice to have notion about what is written in a newspaper or what people in the street are talking about. At university your perfectly come along with a profund English knowledge as the whole international BBA or MBA is in English. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

EXPENSES
by Nadine, Ichthus Hogeschool, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Management Science, Erasmus
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Government assistance Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
Nightlife: Although you learn a lot from an Erasmus trip, it's also Party Time! The drinks in Estonia are cheap, but as we went so often in the end it became quite expensive. Food is not so expensive if you stick to local products and going out for dinner is bill-wise lots of fun! Clothes and luxury products are quite expensive and is better to buy in Russia if you have the opportunity to go there. Food, Nightlife: was more expensive than at home. Overall, Telephone: was the same price as at home. Travel, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
My univerisity provided my books. What suprised me negatively was the brokers fee for my appartment of 600 euros... better try to find an apartment from another international student whose house you can take over! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
by Christine, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Vienna, Austria

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
No, got all the information needed In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Trips organised from the tutors should be planed more carefully and cost orientated FINAL COMMENTS
It was the best academic semester in my life! It was a great experience. Concerning travelling around within Estonia, it is the best to rent a car and get around on your own. For travelling to other countries I would recommend Eurolines or Vikinglines for ferry cruises. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
