HOUSING
by Derek, Youngstown State University, Youngstown, OH, United States
Anthropology, University Agreement
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.

Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why? I think that in order to fully benefit from studying abroad, one must immerse him or herself in the surrounding culture. The best way to do this is by staying with a host family.
Personal comments:
I greatly benefited from my experience with my host family, and remember more of my experiences with them than any experiences I may have had in the classroom.

ACADEMIC
by Derek, Youngstown State University, Youngstown, OH, United States
Anthropology, University Agreement
My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
As anthropology students, the courses were not what we had expected, being that they were more sociology oriented. In the future, I would be more adamant about finding more about the program itself and the courses it contains.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
I can't see how improvements could be made. The course was a good one, but it just didn't include the field of study that I had been hoping for.

I wish I had known...
I wish I'd known a little more about the Irish culture before I went. Most Americans are very naive when it comes to that. Many of the Irish have been to America, whereas most Americans haven't been to Ireland.
In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.

During my experience abroad, I ...
Became familiar with another culture
KEY:
Happened all the time.
Happened quite a lot.
Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills
Met people from other countries
Became more independent
Partied a lot
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
Thumbs up.
