HOUSING
by Derek, Youngstown State University, Youngstown, OH, United States
Anthropology, University Agreement
Personal assessment
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why? I think that in order to fully benefit from studying abroad, one must immerse him or herself in the surrounding culture. The best way to do this is by staying with a host family.
Personal comments:
I greatly benefited from my experience with my host family, and remember more of my experiences with them than any experiences I may have had in the classroom. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
by Derek, Youngstown State University, Youngstown, OH, United States
Anthropology, University Agreement
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
As anthropology students, the courses were not what we had expected, being that they were more sociology oriented. In the future, I would be more adamant about finding more about the program itself and the courses it contains.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
I can't see how improvements could be made. The course was a good one, but it just didn't include the field of study that I had been hoping for. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Personal comments:
I was fascinated by the use of the English language by the local Irish. I ate it up. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I'd known a little more about the Irish culture before I went. Most Americans are very naive when it comes to that. Many of the Irish have been to America, whereas most Americans haven't been to Ireland. In my opinion:
I loved it but I'm not sure everybody would.
During my experience abroad, I ...
