HOUSING
by M, George Washington University, Washington DC, United States
Political Science, University Agreement
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Living on your own in Paris is great, and it's always nice to have your own space to come back to.
Personal comments:
I didn't use the housing services offered by Sciences Po, thus I can't really comment on them.

STUDENT LIFE
by elina2, University of Warwick, Coventry, United Kingdom
International Relations, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Personal comments:
The Paris student life is spread all over the city: there's plenty to do, one just needs to find his/hers favourite spot. Luckily, the school is situated in a very lively area of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, and there are loads of nice cafés and bars just around the corner. However, within the school there's no real "student" atmosphere, and especially the french students don't seem to be going out that much.

Avoid Dominique Colas as a prof and pay special attention to the cours magistraux without conférence.

It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course

KEY:
No problems.
I coped pretty well.
Sometimes it was difficult.
It was a constant struggle.
Educational
Administrative / Institutional
Overall
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French
How much did you improve your French?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: At ease in most situations
Personal comments:
I had spent some time in France already, so I was more or less fluent in French. You learn the political science vocabulary quickly (if you are willing to) and everybody is very helpful and understanding, if you have language problems.

Happened a bit.
Didn't happen.
Traveled
Improved language skills

Advanced my studies/career
Personal recommendation:
It's a place to study mopre than anything else - so recommendable as such, but look for your social life outside. There are a lot of international students from all over Europe and the world though, which can be exciting - we took the opportunity to set up a Europe-wide student organisation and organise a one-week conference!
