EQUIS Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration, Helsinki (SHH)
Svenska Handelshögskolan, Helsinki, Arkadiagatan 22 - P.O. Box 479, 00101 Helsinki, Finland
Description:
Swedish is one of the two official languages of Finland since Finland was part of Sweden for more than six centuries until 1809. As early as 1909 the Swedish-speaking business community founded their own college of business. In the 1920's it became an institution of university standing, the present Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration. The Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration is situated in Helsinki. In order to meet the need for university-level education in Swedish in the fields of economics and business administration in Swedish-speaking Ostrobothnia on the west-coast of Finland, a branch campus was set up in 1980 in the city of Vaasa.

Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings An ERASMUS grant kepler fond (study grant) Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
The price level is significant higher in Finland compared to Austria (in most cases). Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
With your students card you are also a member of youth hostels. You get also a 50 % discount for railway trips, which were really cheap and comfortable in Finland. One surprise: cellular phones are much more expansive in Finland (home of Nokia) than in Austria. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
no. when you go abroad just take time to get used to culture and inhabitants. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
just do not try to cheat at exams or during courses. in general cheating is not at all desirable but the students at hanken are very keen on that subject. some would tell the instructor if they knew about somebody was cheating. some students were involved in cheating which caused lively discussions throughout the university. FINAL COMMENTS
finland was my favourite country already before and here my attitude was enforced. be busy at university, you can learn a lot in those intensive courses. but don't forget to live: travel around the country, there's lots of overwhelming nature to see in finland. concerning neighbours: maybe go to tallinn, st. petersburg, moscow, stockholm. nature is fascinating in all seasons, drinking water is clean and quality of life is high. however, keep in mind that there is a population of about 5m people which makes an extended public transport system (like e.g. the one in vienna) superfluous. you will have to make use of busses rather than of the metro, but still it is not a big problem to get to wherever you are going to. in the city center you can go on foot to all important places.
