If returning, I would choose: A room in a shared apartment
Why? It gave me the opportunity to meet with new people in the same conditions I was and helped socialization at the beginning; it is much more cost effective.
Personal comments:
The housing procedure was not very well oranized, beacuse they required to send our confirmation for the apartment without knowing anything about it.

Personal comments:
Everyone spoke Spanish in the Basque country so had no problems communicating. Basque is generally only spoken in small villages.

lived with my parents at home. more "cost-intensive" live style while abroad.

get yourself into a students flat. saves a lot of money because of shared costs. dont spend too much money on going out! ;-)
