Universidad de Sevilla (US)

Universidad de Sevilla, C/ S. Fernando, 4, 41004 Sevilla, Spain
4.24 / 5 based on 438 reviews.
Description:

Why? I already speak spanish and im familiar with the spanish culture. Although i could come and go as i wished visitors were not allowed and i prefer to be able to cook for myself. Im jsut that kind of independant type person. I do recommend staying with a family if you really want to emerse yourself in the culture. Plus, being vegetarian my only choice was to choose a family over the dorms.
Personal comments:
For the most part housing was great. CIEE did a good job except for the fact they forgot to tell my host mom i was vegetarian and i had a very monotnous semester of the same types of food--mostly tomatoes, spinach, totilla española and rotten cheese.

Why? It is important to live with natives from the country in which you study. You need this invaluable experience which is actually superior to the classroom experience.
Personal comments:
My accomodations were ideal. A 20-minute walk from the university which required my passing through important sites of the host city and a host family that made my experience truely an enriching experience.

You should look at the ads posted in the University. That's the easiest and fastest way to find accommodation in august - september and jan. - feb.

Why? I would definitely recommend staying with a host family for the first semester just to see what the culture is like but when/if i come back i will get an apartment just to have a little more independence.
Personal comments:
CCIS did a very good job of setting up all their students with good families. Ours was very nice and the mother cooked some amazing food.

Why? We are all here for the same thing; to get international experience. I live here with international students (Spanish, German and French student) and get to know different cultures. I really like it here and know you really notice the small differences between cultures and you learn how to adapt to strange situations.
Personal comments:
Unfortunately, the University of Sevilla does not arrange housing for international students. I really had to search a room/apartment for myself. This was tuff but through calling a lot and after two weeks I found a great room in a student apartment.

Why? You feel like home, it is a real house-not a campus room.
Personal comments:
In Sevilla there is no campus housing, you have to find an apartment in the city.

Personal comments:
The university offers a pool of accomodations, but very often they are already occupied when you call there. But there are lots of possibilites to share a flat in the centre of Seville or nearby (15000-38000 Pesetas/month)

Why? Living with a family was great, but if I were to go back I would chose to live in an apartment because I would be more my own boss. I had to adjust my lifestyle to the lifestyle of the family
Personal comments:
The family was very friendly and took care of me well. I had a nice room.

Personal comments:

Why? If you are outgoing, get a an apartment. Its a great way to meet Spanish people as well as to avoid the trap of only associating with other foreigners.
Personal comments:
The Maese Rodrigo residence is located about 10km outside of Seville. It is a bit overpriced and isolated, but if you have transportation and want to be very studious you could be well served by it.
