HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? The apartment in and of itself was miniscule and there were four of us sharing that space; for one student alone the place would have been ideal, as the location and facilities were excellent. However, as it was, it was sometimes quite difficult.
Personal comments:
The university was overcrowded, professors were rarely available, obtaining books was not always easy, photocopying reserve readings was not allowed, so that much of the studying had to take place in the library itself, which could be tedious at times. The courses however were quite good and the professors approachable and accomodating for the most part. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona as well as the Spanish Steps areas were generally favorites of all. There were many cafes and bookstores I liked wandering into and studying in as well, not to mention the 24 hour internet place at Piazza Barberini where I spent a lot of my time. The Orange Garden near FAO, Circo Massimo, Villa Borghese and many other places were some of my favorite places to go when the weather permitted. Great ice cream places are Giolitti, Blue Ice, and still many others. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: Italian
Was learning Italian a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Italian How much did you improve your Italian?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
Hanging out with students of my program proved a big minus in learning the language to the degree that I wanted to. It's difficult not to grow closer to the other american students on the program as time goes by, but I wouldn't advise it simply because it takes away from the overall experience.
