HOUSING
by anittags, Universidad del País Vasco, San Sebastian, Spain
Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, Erasmus
Personal assessment
Type of housing: cite universitaire
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why? for the first time, the better to do it's the residence universitaire, after that, if u really want to study... you can't do it there!! too much party
Personal comments:
not really bad, and the cheapest one. you choose. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

STUDENT LIFE
by Julia, University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom
Translation/ Interpretation, Erasmus
Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Activities, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Marseille is a very lively place by night. Aix-en-Provence itself is much more quiet, more a "go out for a coffee" place This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

ACADEMIC
by Julia, University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom
Translation/ Interpretation, Erasmus
My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
lectures are delivered on a much more theoretical level than at my home university and last longer (up to 3hours), self study is therefore necessary
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
split some really long lectures into 2 short ones instead of one long lecture in order for students to be able to concentrate better This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: French
Was learning French a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my French How much did you improve your French?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: At ease in most situations Personal comments:
My stay in France helped me a lot to improve my French skills, both spoken and written and I also acquired a lot of new vocabulary that I just never would have used before in the UK for the simple reason that I never needed to This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
by Julia, University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
I wish I had known before that I could also have stayed in Marseille University accomodation In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
To go there not expecting it to be like a British University, being prepared to rely a lot more on yourself rather than on tutors/lecturers definately very useful to learn the language and learn different aspects in translation/interpreting studies FINAL COMMENTS
travel tip: explore "provences alpes cote d'azur", STUNNING landscape, definately worth renting a car to see the region better than by bus/coach money saving tip: staying in the "Cité Universitaire" in Marseille and travel to Aix to attend lectures (cleaner and more modern) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
