german universitary sistem is ridicolous sometimes embarassing and above all in hamburg the worst university in germany

you need to go in hamburg is an amazing city, the best in north europe with an incredible night life a lot of concerts and a lot of clubs and pubs always full of people in every day of the week! don't worry for the weather is not so cold

Speak fluently the host language, wish I get a reasonnable parttime job as soon as I get there as well as I wish to get a humble but cozy apartment before I reach Hamburg.

I really can't comment about this because I don't know the University as yet. I'll be in Hamburg only from October onwards. But aqs far as I know is a very nice University, with a very nice reputation.

That it would be hard to make German friends, that I should have been more prepared for grey weather, and that I should have moved closer to town sooner.

Don't go to Hamburg if you are scared to do things independently or to figure things out on your own, otherwise, have fun!

Get there in August when the weather is still warm and go canoeing on the Alster in the center of Hamburg...you'll never want to leave again.
