Description:
The University of Antwerp (UA) is unique in its form. It consists of three university institutions, of which UFSIA (Universitaire Faculteiten Sint-Ignatius te Antwerpen) is one. UA's uniqueness arises from the fact that two of its three 'arms' have an entirely different history and background: the Universitair Centrum Antwerpen (RUCA) is state owned, whereas UFSIA is a private university, founded by the Jesuit fathers. The third arm is the pluralistic Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen (UIA). Both UFSIA and RUCA were originally founded in 1852 and acquired university status in 1965.

I wish I had known...
I found the speed of adminstrative matters really frustrating and the Belgian's laissez-faire attitude was almost too much for me. A lot of things we needed to know was from other students and not from the uni like it should be. Also I found that Brits tend to be amongst the best mannered of all students here and this was hard to adapt to. In my opinion:

The uni itself is really quite good and overall the quality of teaching/subject coverage is better than at home. FINAL COMMENTS

you should take advantage of the goegraphical situation of antwerp, the center of Europe, travel as mutch as you can. For experience you should rent a car with other students and go to copenhagen, the trip is not too long and it's wonderful to go arround in your own car in Denmark, you can see everything. try to meet everyone you see and be friendly because most of the local students are in the same situation as you, away from home. have fun! The courses ar ok, but I didn#t find many courses that make use for my studies at my home university FINAL COMMENTS
It is very cheap to make trips from Belgium to other countries(Ryan Air) and the ESN also organizs trips which are cheap and a< lot of fun! I would recommand to live in a student house because its much more fun than in appartment and you get to know other people easier. Most important advice: Just enjoy it and you will love it!
