Descripción del puesto:
The Role
As a Reliability Test Engineer focusing on energy storage/charging system, you will play a key role in designing reliability into Tesla Energy's products. This role follows the reliability lifecycle of the product from concept to design, development testing/analysis, manufacturing, and field operation to design-in, confirm, and grow exceptional reliability at every stage. You will investigate failures through physical testing of charging and industrial energy storage system to accurately predict the system's robustness and optimize product reliability while accelerating Tesla's next gen products' time to market.
Responsibilities
* Lead reliability test execution for all energy/charging products.
* Determine system test solutions that optimize for product reliability and durability, DFMEA-based risk mitigations, test team resources, and program schedules.
* Execute product, subsystem, and component level reliability/durability testing.
* Conduct test data analysis, clearly communicate test results, and collaborate with design and reliability engineers to resolve issues detected in testing.
* Design and implement next generation hardware test systems and setups to facilitate reliable design characterization and accelerated life testing.
* Procure and develop required test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to enhance creative component and product level reliability testing.
* Facilitate failure analysis to understand root cause and drive resolution for failures originating in testing.
* Continuously drive design risk burndown to ensure product design is reliable and durable.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with design, reliability, and manufacturing engineers to suggest design and/or process improvements and to address reliability & durability issues based on understanding of failure root causes.
* Train technicians and interns to operate and troubleshoot test systems.
* Comply with safety policies and regulations.
Requirements
* BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
* 3-10 years of experience in energy/charging hardware design, design validation, hardware testing, mechanical system reliability and durability testing.
* Knowledge of programming in scripting languages(Python) for test automation and data analysis / post-processing.
* Knowledge of energy/charging Systems and HV Electronics.
* Experience with hand and power tools.
* Experience specifying sensors for test instrumentation and utilizing data acquisition systems.
* Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills.
* Experience pro-actively owning and delivering test engineering projects within accelerated validation timelines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organization and documentation skills.
* Experience working safely with high voltage equipment.
* Proven ability to develop reliability and durability test setups including environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing highly preferred.
