About Global Payment The International Payment Team (PIPO) is responsible for providing professional overseas payment and financial services for all of ByteDance's international businesses, and is committed to building a world-leading payment and financial technology platform. The LLM Algorithms Team is leading algorithmic foundation for intelligent interaction across Global Payment. Anchored on intelligent customer service and AI outbound calling (collection, telemarketing), we ship LLM and agent-driven systems that serve millions of global users and continuously open up new avenues of business growth. Our intelligent service takes two forms. In Agent-Only mode, an AI agent independently completes closed-loop, multimodal (text and voice) interactions with users, from fully automated outbound calls to online customer service and on-device assistants. In Copilot mode, AI acts as a super-assistant to human agents, delivering real-time script navigation, risk alerts, instant lookup, auto-summarization, and intelligent quality inspection. We work at the intersection of business and cutting-edge research. Real global scenarios give you production traffic to validate ideas, while our horizontal research agenda - low-resource-language speech recognition, multi-turn understanding, complex task reasoning, knowledge construction and augmentation, and long-term memory - gives you hard, publishable problems to own end-to-end. We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2027. As a PhD intern, you won't run experiments on toy data. Backed by ByteDance's global reach and a global payment business still in its early, fast-growing stage, you'll take real ownership of a research direction, see your models reach users at scale, and grow faster than a org would ever allow. Responsibilities - Gain a deep understanding of business requirements, utilize various post-training technologies such as SFT, RLVR, and Agent RL to optimize the performance of models for information extraction, intent classification, tool calling, etc., in scenarios such as intelligent debt collection, intelligent customer service, AIOps, thereby raising the ceiling of business results. - Closely follow the latest research results in the LLM field, actively participate in the exploration and research of new businesses, and find the best solutions based on a full understanding of business scenarios

Requerimientos del candidato/a:

Minimum Qualifications: - Graduating with a PhD degree or above, majoring in related fields such as artificial intelligence, computer science, pattern recognition, etc. - Possessing excellent programming skills, proficient in at least one programming language such as Python/C++, and proficient in at least one deep learning framework such as TensorFlow/PyTorch. - Familiar with common model structures such as Attention, Transformer, BERT, GPT, and familiar with the principles and implementation of open-source large models such as LLaMA, ChatGLM. Priority will be given to those with experience in fine-tuning and training open-source models. - Excellent ability to analyze and solve problems, passionate about solving challenging problems, and good communication and teamwork skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Quality papers published, competition awards, or project experience related to NLP, CV, data processing, etc. - Those with experience in fine-tuning and training open-source models such as Qwen and LLaMA. - Winners of competitions such as ACM/ICPC, NOI/IOI, Top Coder, and Kaggle are preferred.
