HOUSING
Personal assessment
Type of housing: Student residence
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Great for meeting new friends and improving language skills.
Personal comments:
If you are at the "Studentensiedlung am Seepark" I would recommend staying in one of the larger flats with 8-12 people per floor. Freiburg have accommodation specifically for international students at "Europa Haus", you may get your own bathroom and kitchen area, however there is no opportunity for meeting native German speakers there. EXPENSES
The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Government assistance Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
Germany is generally much cheaper than Britain for everything. My travel expenses were more because at home I study at my home university and I wanted to travel whilst abroad as getting anywhere from Scotland is expensive. Travel: was more expensive than at home. Overall, Telephone: was the same price as at home. Food, Nightlife, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Banks: Join either Deutsche Bank or Volksbank, I knew several people with problems at Sparkasse, they couldn't use cash machines outwith Freiburg!!! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

OVERALL
Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
Registration for health cover in Germany, go to the AOK in Moltkestrasse before you register at the uni and get your papers, this costs you nothing with an E128 form. I didn't know that I needed to have this for registration and the guy at the registration office was pretty rude to me and sent me to the AOK and told me to come back the next day. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Its a brilliant atmosphere, you'll make loads of new friends, give it a go!! FINAL COMMENTS
Get a "Bahncard" half price trains throughout Germany. In Italy use a Chilometrico Ticket, very cheap and you can travel for miles! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
