HOUSING
by Aida, Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, Rotterdam, Netherlands

Personal assessment
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why? If I would go on exchange there again, I would choose to live in the same appartment. The location was great, right between the Business School and the city centre.
Personal comments:
In general housing at this university is very good. Most residences have a phone line and internet. There is however one residence that could use a lot of improvement. This is my residence; we were the only ones who did not have a phone line. The building was very old as well. But the fact that I was among exchange students (around 70, but sharing an appartment with 5 others) and had a good location made up for this all. STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Travel: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
No doubt: go to the Park Cafè on Thursday night. It's an amazing place with students, locals live music and disco. There's also a very nice open space with music and bar. In Copenhagen you can always find something to do in the night a part from Sunday and Monday. During the day you can have a nice walk in the centre of the town, there are many nice shops or spend the day in the museums. If you wan to travel go to Aarhus it's a very nice university town. Take a look at Christiania, Tivoli and moreover the National Museum This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
CEMS courses which I took where really great. There are limited places available in these courses so the classes and interaction are really interesting and valuable. Teachers communicate with students by e-mail and all courses' materials you can find and download from the web page.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
There should be maybe more przctical aspects included into teaching, e.g. more meetings with business professionals. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English Was learning the local language a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my knowledge How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang) How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Basic phrases Personal comments:
I haven't had any problem to communicate with danish people (as I didn't speak danish when I arrived) since they all have a very good level of english. It is very different from France, where people have a strong accent, and don't always have the basic skills. Therefore we had a very good opportunity to improve our level of english during courses, with other erasmus students (as I was our common language) and with danish people. The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
Personal savings Other sources of funding:
Family Work opportunities:
I worked during my study abroad experience Personal spending habits:
Housing is about 3 times more expensive than in home, and since this is the item you most spend in becomes the more important to take into account. In second place is food, it is also about 3 time the prices from back home, but you always can try to look for thge cheapest kind of food, so is easier to manage. Food, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home. Travel: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
The cheapest supermarket is Netto, but to go there you don´t have to spect to much since they are out of items regularly after lunch time and the service is not a sgood as in other supermarkets. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
For longer stay it is worth to know that the best way of transport in Copenhagen is biking. It's really comfortable and cheaper than public transportation, but you have to buy a used bike not a new one. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
It was the most advanced in technological sense university I've ever seen. Teachers treat students as partners and are very helpful. Students have to work systematicly and work really hard, but the resuls are really good and valuable. Team working is applied to almost all courses. FINAL COMMENTS
To travel around Copenhagen it is very cheap to buy 24hours ticket for Copenhagen region. You should visit for sure Frederiksberg in Hellerod - it looks like taken from the dreams and has beautiful gardens around, so the best time to go there is sunny day in Spring.
