Personal assessment

KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? It was nice to live in the same house with several other students. The people in the same house formed a kind of family away from home.
Personal comments:
Good, although some of my friends had to wait for few weeks before they were able to get a room which is sad for them.

My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
How much did you improve your local language?
My level before: Did not speak it
My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
Personal comments:
Most of the people outside the university environment spoke good english, I only met few people who did not speak english. At the university everyone spoke english and many were even native speakers. communication at the university with the instructors was best done by email, also after I returned to my home country.

The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:
Very easy.
Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Other sources of funding:
Personal savings
loan
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
I wanted to travel and see the country. I went out more often than in home, main reason for that is the cheapness of it. Same amount of money I spent home in one evening, I could go out for a week.
Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Telephone, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
If you want to travel, it is a good idea to buy the discount card for railways.

Personal recommendation:
They could let international students to choose courses they would like to study.

FINAL COMMENTS

travelling by train in Holland is a bit pricy, but you can buy a discount card, than it's gonna be 40% cheaper. Very important: apply for accomodation as early as possible, than you have more chances to get a nice room for a reasonable price. If you choose to live in international student house, apply for Moesstraat. It's definetelly the best place to live (location, social life, cost of rent).
