Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? because this is where you get to know people from all over the world.
Personal comments:
I am happy with my experience there. the accomodation was good, the room was big enought and clean. The best of all was to be able to meet people from all over the world, with other backgrounds, other cultures... It made this experience unforgetable.

Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
a lot of the students parties took place in the hall of some of the university buildings, which were very large. Parties there were quite good, but the best place to be was probably the "floor party" which means on campus, people inviting people in their kitchens.

EXPENSES

Personal spending habits:
In Germany at that time you could find prepaid telephon card which I didn't find in France. Night life because in was students parties, so everything is cheap. And travel because they had "wochenende tickets" if you want to travel with friends in the week-end, and "semester ticket" (paid with you inscription) for all transports within 100km around Giessen...great to visit around!
Food, Overall, Housing: was the same price as at home.
Travel, Nightlife, Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
