Heidelberg was really special for me and I can only reccomend it. The only tip I can give is the one regarding the accomodation. All the rest is easy. Read Review

Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: Zimmer in Studentenwohnheim
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Because it's cheaper and often in the center of the city
Personal comments:
It's very difficult to find a room, so it's better to go there at least a month before, in order to arrange a good accomodation.

Work opportunities:

Personal spending habits:
I spend more because the cost of life is higher than in Italy and because there're more chances to travel and to go out. The accomodation in Heidelberg is also particularly expensive.
Travel, Nightlife, Overall, Housing: was more expensive than at home.
Food, Telephone: was the same price as at home.
Personal comments:
If you get there at least a month before the beginnig of the courses, you have more chances to find a good room, not so expensive as the ones you can find in October.

I wish I had known that it's so important to get there at least a month before the beginning of the courses in order to get a good/rather cheap room, because the situation at the semester beginning is really desperate.
