HOUSING
by Angelo, Università Bocconi, Milan, Italy
Economics, Socrates
Personal assessment
Cost
KEY:
Couldn't have asked for more.
Pretty good.
Could've been better, but didn't lessen the overall experience.
Disappointing.
Facilities
Location
Cleanliness
Space
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Living in a campus gave me the chance to meet a lot of people coming from all over the world and to speak french even if all my studies were in english.
Personal comments:
It was nothing special but I liked it because it was hosting a lot of nice guys. I didn't care too much about the size of the room or how many people were using the same kitchen because I was going to be there only for a few months and I could stand not perfect conditions for that period.

STUDENT LIFE
by Angelo, Università Bocconi, Milan, Italy
Economics, Socrates
Personal social experience
Activities
KEY:
Amazing! Hardly had time to study.
Plenty to do when I had the time.
So-so.
Did not get involved.
Nightlife
Travel
Overall
Describe host city: Students interact with the local community without much university involvement
Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal comments:
The best place for students and foreigners was "Le trou", a small pub with revivfal music which was always crowed. Tha "P.M.G.", a small square characterized by small cafes where it's good to spend huge afternoon and evenings, mainly duirng springtime. ""Club Seven" was the place to dance house music. It's a little bit poshy and you need to be well dressed. During the summer, it's perfect to go to the swimmingpool. It's in Germany but far away from Starsbourg only 3-4 km.

ACADEMIC
by Sara, Università Bocconi, Milan, Italy
Economics, Erasmus
My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
Master courses from DEA and DESS are affordable even for undergraduate students; a strong accent is put on mathematics in almost every course, but few of them (the most theoretical ones).

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
A greater use of electronic resources and e-learning support, like in my home university, would improve the quality of teaching a lot and would make it easier for students to have a reference for their studies. It would be also better to introduce a more rigorous use of books.

EXPENSES
by Angelo, Università Bocconi, Milan, Italy
Economics, Socrates
The accessibility of student needs
Second-hand text books
KEY:
Very easy.
Minimal effort.
Accessible but required effort.
Almost impossible.
Second-hand household items
Computers / Internet
Administrative
Money from home
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
A Socrates grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits:
I spent more for the food because I didn't always have the opportunity to use the kitchen so I had to eat somewhere outside. I spent more for the nightlife because I met so many people that I had to go out almost every night, even only for a few hours. The housing was really less expensive than in Italy and I was calling only my parents and friends in Italy: I was meeting my friends there in the campus or at the university.
Food, Nightlife: was more expensive than at home.
Travel, Overall: was the same price as at home.
Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
none
