Lead Cisco NSO Developer (Python / MAAPI / Service Provider Networks)
Job Profile Summary
As a Lead Individual Contributor (IC), this role is responsible for solving complex technical problems and guiding teams through code, architecture, and design decisions within the Network Automation domain.
You will:
* Define and own technical direction for Cisco NSO-based automation
* Lead architecture and implementation of scalable, reusable solutions
* Raise engineering standards through hands-on leadership, mentorship, and reuse
* Deliver high-quality automation solutions that accelerate delivery and reduce duplication across the REFLEX platform
Role Purpose
We are seeking a Lead Cisco NSO Developer / Architect with deep expertise in:
* Cisco NSO (6.x)
* Python development
* MAAPI-driven service implementation (critical requirement)
This role sits within the Network Automation team and drives the evolution of REFLEX, an intent-based automation platform enabling fully automated, multi-cloud network connectivity provisioning across global infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Ownership
* Own the technical direction and architecture of NSO-based automation systems
* Lead design and delivery of template-less services using MAAPI
* Establish best practices for scalable, reusable service models
* Mentor engineers and guide design decisions across teams
Cisco NSO & Automation Development
* Develop production-grade services using: Python (maapi, requests, netaddr) YANG models
* Implement: Stacked and composite services Full service lifecycle (CRUD ownership model) Transaction-safe, idempotent workflows
* Integrate NSO with broader ecosystem via: RESTCONF / APIs Mid-tier orchestration (MIND layer)
REFLEX Platform Contribution
Work across layers of the automation stack:
* REFLEX (UI/API layer)
User-facing APIs, ServiceNow integration, orchestration entry point
* MIND (Logic layer)
Intent validation, capacity management (VLANs, ASNs), workflow orchestration
* NSO (Execution layer)
Enforces intended state across devices using service-driven configuration
Network & Service Modeling
* Translate business intent into network configurations, including: BGP/MPLS L3VPN / EVPN VRFs, VLANs, interface provisioning
* Automate multi-cloud connectivity across: AWS, Azure, GCP Data centers and colocation facilities
Software Engineering Practices
* Drive high-quality engineering standards: Unit testing (pytest) Integration testing (Robot Framework)
* Contribute to: CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) Containerized deployments (Docker)
* Promote: Code reuse Observability Secure, scalable design
