Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? If you stay there just one trimester, this is the best way to meet people. I had a car, so there you don't have any trouble to find a parking because is far away from downtown. People who lived in the center, had to take a bus to go to the faculty (it takes around 35 to 45 minutes depending on the traffic)
Personal comments:
The good points: the residence for the foreigners (Le Galion) has many activities going on inside. Financial aid from the french government (CAF) Wireless connection. There is a cleaning woman that comes every week The bad points: it could get too loud sometimes, specially if you coincide with a group of libaneses. Some students "lost" some belongings (ask for rooms in the first or second floor not in the ground floor) This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? Because you can know native young people that are studying aswell as you are and improve your foreign language skills. Also you have your own room and despite of that you can get together with them and know better about the host culture
Personal comments:
Actually the University provides a Housing Programm and i have heard good comments about it. Also they help you to find accomodation outside the campus via mail or in the web page. Therefore I think they have a very good way of managing this issue. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why? I believe that getting in touch with the French language and culture will be easier if you live with a French family - at least for a shorter period of time..
Personal comments:
It was difficult to find a proper place to live due to Lyon's high number of students. I found something on my own and was very pleased with that, but now that I know the city I probably would have chosen something else if I was to go back. Why? i could be much freer, dont need to worry about interrupting others, and have no chance to touch the community and society
Personal comments:
actually at beginning, i lived the school campus, but later i moved out due to the reasons above, i could say that the facility of housing is ok, but living so near to my university restricted my space of life. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? the student's residence was too far away from the city center and we were dependent on the very few buses that went downtown.
Personal comments:
in general i can say that we had a good housing atmosphere. you get easily into contact with other foreigners and you feel never alone. we had a piano room (for parties!!), a table-tennis-table and a babyfoot-table for our leisure time and the personnel was very very nice with us! Why? I lived with local people and it is so much better for learning the local language. Also it is better for going out in Lyon because the campus accommodation is very far away from lyon centre and a nightmare to get back to at night
Personal comments:
My advice is to try and live with local people. Not only will your language improve enormously but it means you get a better insight into life in Lyon and the local culture This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Why? Although I enjoyed living on campus the school wasn't in the centre of Lyon. I'd prefer to live in the town centre as there is more to do and travel time would be less.
Personal comments:
Excellent value and the school arranges it for you. Easy to meet local/foreign students. I recommend the Drakkar (small apartments) as oposed to the Galion (single rooms, communal kitchen and lounge). This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
