LIUC Università Cattaneo Castellanza (LIUC)

Carlo Cattaneo University, Corso Matteotti 22, 21053 Castellanza, Italy
3.66 / 5 based on 150 reviews.
Description:
The University was founded in 1991 on the initiative of the Industrial Association for the Province of Varese (UNIVA) and was formally recognised by a ministerial decree in October 1991 as an independent, self financing University. It had its first graduates in July 1995.

Since its foundation the University has a 4-year course in Business and Economics, since 1994/5 a 3-year course in Logistics and Production Engineering and since 1998/9 a 4-year course in Law and Economics. 1999-2000 will see the start of a five year course in Engineering Management.

The teaching philosophy of the University is based on the thinking of the Lombard economist, Carlo Cattaneo, who identified the human factor as one of the essential resources for economic development, foreseeing a need which is currently at the centre of the debate on company culture.

If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why? Meet the most people that way
Personal comments:
The rooms were small but they were comfortable. The situation was away from all places of interest.

many clubs in Milan but the cost of the taxi home was around 50 Euros, or you could hold back for the 1st train in the morning. The Erasmus network did organise plent nights for us so the bus home was available.

ACADEMIC
by Mikael, Karlstads Universitet, Karlstad, Sweden

My academic experiences
Quality of courses
KEY:
Fantastic.
Pretty good.
Could've been a bit better.
Disappointing.
Variety of courses
Availability/access to resources
Interaction with teachers
Interaction with other international students
Interaction with local students
Course recommendations:
Well, do not go here if you are very keen on improving your academic skills. The courses generally were extremely poor, but then of course also very easy! So it surely gives you a lot of time for travelling and to party etc.

My opinion of the university assessment
Exams at end of course
KEY:
Liked it.
It was alright.
A bit annoying.
Didn't like it.
Exams throughout the course
Essays and/or projects at the end of course.
Essays and/or projects throughout the course
Overall
Personal comments:
Well, the academic level must be higher if LIUC has any interest in being seen as a serious university. I think though that the courses in italian are way better, so if you know italian and want some academic challenge too...choose italian courses. International courses are as I said before...poor.
