A Snapshot of Your Day
Join our innovative team at Siemens Gamesa as an Intern in the Loads Modelling Department in Madrid! Imagine diving into the world of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and contributing to the analysis of Vortex-Induced Vibrations (VIV) on turbine systems. You will engage in exciting projects that involve investigating fluid-solid interaction phenomena, performing simulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize turbine designs. This internship is not just about gaining experience; it's about making a real impact on the future of renewable energy and helping us tackle the energy challenges of tomorrow.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Investigate fluid-solid interaction phenomena affecting wind turbines, focusing on vortex shedding and its implications for turbine performance and stability.
* Perform CFD simulations to analyze vortex-induced vibrations and other relevant phenomena impacting wind turbine systems.
* Identify potential design modifications to mitigate vortex-induced vibrations, collaborating with the design team to enhance turbine components.
* Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among mechanical engineers, researchers, and designers.
* Validate simulation results by comparing them with experimental data and industry standards, ensuring the accuracy of your analyses.
What You Bring
* Recent graduate or in the final stages of your Master's in Aeronautics, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
* Experience in CFD simulations related to aeroelastic phenomena, demonstrating a solid understanding of the principles involved.
* Additional training or experience in wind energy, including wind turbine aerodynamics and performance.
* Knowledge of wind turbine design standards, such as IEC61400-1 and DNVGL, is a plus.
* Proficiency in programming languages, particularly MATLAB, and fluent English skills; Spanish is a bonus.
