Duties and Responsibilities
Org. Setting and Reporting The Environment and Development Division is seeking one intern for a minimum of four months (preferably six, the maximum internship duration) to support communications and outreach linked to its environmental analytics and meeting-reporting work, with a particular focus on urban climate resilience content. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. A fully remote (home-based) arrangement is possible, subject to approval. The intern will help turn findings and quotable content into on-brand cards, slides, report layouts, short videos and accessible media for web and social channels, applying inclusive (Gender, Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion) messaging throughout. The intern will primarily support the production of visual and digital content, drafting of outreach material, and organisation of photo and knowledge assets linked to ongoing communications initiatives. Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: 1. Produce on-brand visual products, including quote cards, slide decks and report layouts (such as photo-rich formats), from supplied content and brand configurations (30%) 2. Produce short video clips (for example 30-60 seconds) and social-media content from project activities, applying inclusive (GEDSI) messaging (30%) 3. Organise and maintain photo and knowledge assets, and quality-assure image descriptions, captions and accessibility outputs (subtitles/VTT) (20%) 4. Support outreach analytics monitoring and updates to project webpages and documentation under supervision (20%)

Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) related to communications, digital media, graphic or information design, journalism, marketing, or related disciplines; or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent) related to communications, digital media, graphic or information design, journalism, marketing, or related disciplines. Special skills (a) Proficiency with design and productivity tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Canva, or the Adobe suite) is required. (b) A portfolio demonstrating graphic design, short-form video, or digital content creation is a strong asset. (c) Familiarity with social-media content, basic analytics, and web updating is desirable. (d) An eye for brand consistency, layout and accessibility is essential. (e) Affinity with or interest in climate action and sustainable cities is desirable. Familiarity with the responsible use of AI tools to improve work quality and efficiency, in line with UN guidelines, is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of another language used in Asia-Pacific is an asset (e.g. Chinese, Hindi, Bahasa Indonesia, Tagalog, Thai).
