As a Database Administrator, you will play a key role in data platform by ensuring robust, secure, and efficient database administration and AWS cloud development. The role delivers reliable service maintenance, smooth project delivery, and infrastructure engineering leadership while ensuring compliance with security mandates.

What will you be doing:
* Deciding when and how to upgrade databases and datastores.
* Managing database backups and restoration policies.
* Contributing to business resilience and loss-of-service strategies.
* Developing and documenting best practices.
* Reviewing stored procedures and queries for performance optimization.
* Using static analysis and profiling tools.
* Supervising automation of DB upgrades.
* Driving zero out-of-hours releases and improving release efficiency.
* Providing consultancy on DB housekeeping and health checks.
* Advising on DB service monitoring configuration.
* Performing monthly reporting on DB health and actions.
* Supervising junior database analysts supplied by a third-party company
* Work with platform application teams to help maintain their service fundamentals

We are looking for a person who can demonstrate:

Experience:
* 5+ years in database administration

Core Knowledge:
* AWS IaaS and PaaS services (RDS, Redshift).
* PostgreSQL administration.
* Data modelling and DB design.
* DB profiling, housekeeping, query tuning.
* DevOps and Agile mindset.
* Git for version control.

Nice to have:
* AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate.
* NoSQL (DynamoDB), Graph DB (Neo4J, AWS Neptune).
* Python3 scripting.
* Java development.
* Linux systems administration.
* Infrastructure design and architecture.
* CI/CD pipelines using CloudBees Jenkins and Azure DevOps.

Communication and Collaboration:
* Excellent stakeholder management and strong communication and consultancy skills
* Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms to diverse audiences.

Leadership and Accountability:
* Ability to provide leadership and guidance on principles within the team.
* Calm and logical approach to high-pressure situations
* Ownership of deliverables with a strong focus on risk management and continuous improvement.
