Job Description

Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
* Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
* Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
* Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
* Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
* Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
* Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Join the XGEN engineering team as a Full Stack Software Engineer. You will develop applications used by traders across Barclays Investment Banking, helping them execute trades, manage positions and respond to market opportunities. Working across modern backend and frontend technologies, you will build and support distributed systems that are critical to the trading business.

To be successful as a Full Stack Software Engineer, you should have:
* Extensive Java and Spring Boot development experience.
* Experience building microservices and distributed systems.
* Solid software engineering practices (testing, CI/CD, code reviews).

Some other highly valued skills may include:
* Angular or experience with a modern frontend framework (React, Vue, etc.).
* Experience with cloud platforms, containers, or Kubernetes/OpenShift.
* Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies (e.g. Kafka).

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role is based in our Prague office.

Entry Salary: 1,200,000.00 CZK
Upper Salary: 1,683,000.00 CZK

The entry and upper salary information above includes only annual full-time equivalent base salary and represents the typical range of pay for the role. The actual pay rate will reflect the responsibility level of the role and experience level of the individual. The entry and upper salary information does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
