About the Role

Based at our Trafford Park Mill, as Digitalisation Engineer you will be involved in supervising projects as well as assisting operationally in digital projects.  You will be key in identifying digitalisation opportunities in line with the business strategy.

What You Will Do

Focusing initially on the consumer tissue manufacturing sites in the UK, you will take a strategic approach to what will work well for us, ensure buy-in from internal stakeholders and help deliver on implementation. 

Working in collaboration with operational, technical and process colleagues based at Manchester Mill and at other sites, this is a role that will help explore, propose, implement and use advance technologies within the full tissue making process.

This role is about successfully delivering on projects within a matrix organisation working with colleagues in the UK and being part of the wider global technology digitalisation team. 

Your focus is on continuous improvement through digital technologies and working as a team to successfully deliver. 

You will need a good working knowledge of operational technology and IT systems to really drive performance and meet the goals for this position. 

Initial projects that you will find yourself involved with and in some cases responsible for:

* Migration of Proficy in Converting to PLAIN (Key Automation and application user)
* Plain Process Parameter roll-out and development in converting
* Augury condition monitoring IoT support
* Support OT (Operational technology) Security Audit

Who You Are

This role is a great career development opportunity for those who are strong technically with a minimum of an HNC engineering qualification and relevant experience of control systems in manufacturing.  With some project management experience and good working knowledge of operation technology/IT systems, you will also need to be able to demonstrate the following:

* Effective influencing and engaging skills
* Able to communicate effectively and work in collaboration at all levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders
* Understanding of MES systems such as Proficy and Plain
* High level of IT skills
* Knowledge of each stage of the tissue manufacturing process and how this can be impacted by new technologies such as sensors and how these feed into MES and SAP systems
* A passion to continue learning and keeping abreast with new technologies.

You will also need to be able to work away from home on occasions as some UK and European travel may be required.
