Flights Operations Specialist

Role Description: A trip usually starts with a flight. The Flights team's mission is to offer a wide selection of flights, great value for money and the easiest end-to-end booking experience. We partner with our Strategic partner Etraveli Group to make our mission a reality and have high-reaching goals over the next years.
The Operational Excellence Specialist (Flights) executes day-to-day finance operations across supplier fund flows for Flights, ensuring accurate, timely reconciliation and payment processes while maintaining clean documentation, audit readiness, and scalable BAU routines. They are the first-line point of contact for finance operational requests across Flights, Booking.com Finance and suppliers and drive clean handoffs into month-end close.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:
* Experience in finance, payment operations, reconciliations, or payout operations (marketplace, travel, fintech, or similar).
* Data-driven decision maker; proficient with spreadsheets and operational analytics; comfortable navigating large operational datasets to drive decisions.
* Working knowledge of commission invoicing, reconciliations, refunds, and chargeback concepts.
* Proven stakeholder management with Finance, Fintech, Product/Tech, CS, Legal/Compliance, and external suppliers.
* Control mindset and documentation discipline; ability to turn exceptions into durable fixes and BAU.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence across functions (Product, Tech, Finance, Fintech, Legal/Compliance, and supplier functions).
* Comfortable leading incident/issue management, root cause analyses, and prevention plans.
* Exceptional communication and documentation skills, able to summarize complex information simply.
* Fast learner, self-aware, self-sufficient, and proactive; able to balance multiple initiatives and prioritize based on business needs and impact.
* Able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment, with strong attention to detail.
Qualifications & Skills:
* 1-3 years in finance or payment operations, reconciliations, payout operations, or similar.
* Proficient in Google Sheets/Excel (lookups, pivots, if/then logic, text/date cleaning).
* Working knowledge of revenue recognition, commission invoicing, reconciliations, refunds, and chargeback concepts.
* Data-driven decision maker, proficient with spreadsheets and operational analytics.
* Demonstrated change management and process improvement experience.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across various functions (Product, Tech, Finance, Legal, etc.).
* Comfortable leading incident/issue management, root cause analyses, and prevention plans.
* Exceptional communication and documentation skills, able to summarize complex information simply.
* Fast learner, able to balance and prioritise multiple initiatives based on business needs and impact.
* Self-aware, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
* The role requires business travel to our Strategic partner (Sweden - Stockholm and Gothenburg or Greece -Athens).
