Description du poste:

Company Description:

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.

Job Description:

Introduction:
You will build, deploy, and maintain the infrastructure supporting the Open Research Europe publishing platform based on Open Journal System (OJS). This includes managing Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments, developing integrations, and ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable operations of the service in close collaboration with the business and editorial operations team responsible for managing the publishing workflow.
Functions:
* Design, deploy, and maintain the Open Research Europe infrastructure using automated CI/CD workflows to manage multiple web and support services.
* Work closely with the business and editorial operations team to translate service requirements into technical implementations and ensure smooth operation of the publishing platform.
* Ensure secure, reliable, and scalable operations through monitoring, backups, incident response, and regular performance and security audits.
* Develop and manage integrations with authentication providers, indexers, and other third-party services, and support the migration from the legacy platform to the new system.
* Oversee day-to-day IT service management, including technical user support, supervision of a junior team member, preparation of service documentation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
* Prepare technical documentation and EU project deliverables, and contribute improvements to open-source projects such as OJS and related infrastructure components.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Computer Science or a related field.
Experience:
* Proven experience with containerised infrastructure and orchestration tools (Kubernetes or OpenShift), and strong knowledge of system administration databases, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation (e.g. Helm, GitLab CI).
* Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining web platforms such as Open Journal Systems (OJS) or WordPress, including developing integrations and advanced automation scripts in PHP, Python and SQL, and connecting authentication or third-party services.
* Demonstrated experience in IT service management, including monitoring, security auditing, and backup/recovery best practices.
* Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational skills, with experience contributing to technical reports or open-source projects, providing user support, and supervising team members.
* Familiarity with open science principles and prior experience working in EU-funded projects.
Technical competencies:
* Knowledge of programming techniques and languages: pHP and Python.
* Development of application software.
* Testing, diagnosing and optimisation of software.
Behavioural competencies:
* Achieving Results: delivering prompt and efficient service taking into account customer needs.
* Communicating Effectively: ensuring that information, procedures and decisions are appropriately documented.
* Working in Teams: contributing to promoting a positive atmosphere in the team through an optimistic and constructive attitude; addressing issues.
* Demonstrating Accountability: working conscientiously and reliably; delivering on promises.
* Demonstrating Flexibility: being able to deal with ambiguous or unpredictable situations.
Language skills:
Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
