The Position
2026 Fall Intern - Translational Medicine/Oncology
Department Summary
The Department of Translational Medicine leads biomarker discovery and development efforts for programs in Early Stage Research through Phase III clinical trials. We use relevant pharmacodynamic biomarkers to evaluate target-engagement and mechanism of action of candidate therapies as well as prognostic biomarkers to guide patient selection. Our department is responsible for developing biomarker strategies, designing and implementing biomarker assays, and interpreting biomarker results. The Translational Medicine department also conducts reverse translation activities to further understand the target biology and mechanism of action of the molecules in the clinic. This internship is in the Oncology department.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
* Analyze high dimensional flow cytometry results with unsupervised clustering.
* Analyze biomarker data for early stage programs.
* Conduct experiments that require experience with immune cells isolation, staining and flow cytometry.
* Interpret the results and present the findings.
* Analyze single cell data.
Program Highlights
* Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
* Program start dates are in September (Fall).
* A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

Who You Are (Required)
Required Education
You meet one of the following criteria:
* Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).
* Must have attained a PhD.
Required Majors: Oncology, Immuno-oncology, Computational Biology or Bioinformatics.
Required Skills:
* Experience with isolating and handling immune cells, running multicolor flow cytometry, sorting immune cells, running ELISA.
* Experience with unsupervised flow cytometry analysis using computational tools.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
* Experience with R, Python or other programming tools is a plus.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $50.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
