Get in the driver's seat

As a C&T and Exhaust Temperature Model Engineer you will contribute to the powertrain development of new projects, working across powertrain/EE/vehicle validation, you will develop, calibrate and validate PWT control models, with focus on: charge model (air mass estimation, volumetric efficiency, manifold pressure dynamics); torque model (indicated/friction/brake torque, torque losses and torque structure); exhaust temperature model (turbine inlet, catalyst/GPF and component protection).

Ensuring the optimization of model parameters and multi-dimensional calibration maps to achieve targets.

Where you'll make an impact

* Develop, calibrate and validate PWT control models

* Define and manage model trade-offs between: accuracy, calibration complexity, emissions compliance, torque delivery and drivability, fuel consumption, thermal robustness and component protection.

* Select and tune: air charge estimation parameters, volumetric efficiency, torque conversion/loss models, friction and pumping losses, exhaust gas temperature estimation, thermal protection thresholds, correction factors and adaptation strategies.

* Evaluate data quality and technically validate test results before model release.

* Propose and implement updates to: calibration parameters; model structures; validation methodologies; monitoring criteria and control strategy interfaces based on experimental evidence.

* Actively contribute to root cause analysis of complex issues related to: torque deviation, boost/air path mismatch, exhaust temperature prediction errors, thermal protection events, emissions exceedances and drivability complaints.

Your core components

* Support model/calibration release readiness for project milestones (DV/PV). Contribute to definition of: model validation standards, calibration best practices, automation and data-processing approaches, accuracy targets, robustness criteria and release procedures.

* Plan and execute model validation activities across: engine dynamometer (steady-state and transient); powertrain/emissions test benches; vehicle testing (road, altitude, climatic conditions).

* Validate key operating modes and conditions: cold start and warm-up, tip-in/tip-out transients, gear shift torque interventions, full load, catalyst heating, thermal protection and degraded operating modes.

* Perform advanced data analysis using INCA, CANape, MDA, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, Concerto or equivalent. Apply DoE, model-based calibration and statistical validation to improve model accuracy and robustness.

* Support ECU software integration and troubleshooting of torque deviation, air path mismatch, exhaust temperature error, thermal protection events, drivability issues and emissions spikes.

* Monitor model KPIs and produce structured pass/fail technical reports.

Salary range: EUR37 500 - EUR57 500 gross per year (depending on experience)
