About the role
As a Data Ops Engineer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operational support of Kerry's data and analytics platforms. Your primary focus will be BAU operations, including monitoring ELT data pipelines, managing incidents and defects, supporting Power Platform solutions, and delivering minor enhancements, all while supporting and enabling the broader Power BI community.
AI/ML monitoring will be part of the role, but on a smaller scale mainly ensuring basic model consistency and accuracy, with operational readiness as these capabilities grow over time. This is a hands-on, problem-solving role ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, stability improvements, and cross-team collaboration.
In this role you will also use your Power Platform technical skills and strong communication abilities to support global Power BI users, create and curate learning experiences for citizen developers, and guide teams as they embrace Self-Service BI capabilities.
Key responsibilities
* Monitor and maintain ELT data pipelines across Azure, Databricks and Microsoft Fabric to ensure reliable ingestion and refresh cycles.
* Perform incident management, including triage, root-cause analysis, resolution, and communication with stakeholders.
* Deliver minor enhancements across data applications and reports.
* Support operational tasks tied to data quality, refresh failures, job scheduling, and CI/CD processes.
* Provide operational support for Power Platform and Databricks solutions, including troubleshooting and minor fixes.
* Support governance, environment management, and platform best practices.
* Support the self-service BI community, ensuring adherence to DS&E governance.
* Build and maintain a strong Power BI community by sharing best practices, monthly updates, training sessions, and empowering Power BI champions.
* Maintain an internal hub for reusable assets, templates, and guidelines.
* Perform basic monitoring of AI/ML jobs (refresh health, drift flags, runtime failures).
* Collaborate with Data Scientists to assist with operational readiness for models and agents.
* Escalate issues and support small operational tasks tied to model health.
Qualifications and skills
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
* Technical exposure to Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Databricks is mandatory.
* Knowledge of at least 2 of the following languages (PySpark, SQL, Power Query, Python and DAX).
* Experience and understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle, monitoring metrics, and evaluation workflows would be a plus.
* Experience using Dev Ops and CI/CD would be a plus.
* Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving kills and attention to detail.
* Ability to manage incidents, defects, and operational workflows though Service Now.
* Strong communication and facilitation skills; able to guide both beginners and advanced users as well as comfort working with multiple technical teams.
* Self-learner with a strong passion for emerging technologies.
* Experience building training content, documentation, or communities of practice would be a plus.
