Descripción del puesto:

Health can't wait.

Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six-month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that's exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can't.
Alan exists to end the wait.
Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it's coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It's not solely a question of willpower. It's the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way.
So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience.
We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture. We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached EUR800M+ in ARR.
Prevention as the new norm. That's what we're building with our team of 800+ people. If it speaks to you: we're hiring across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. And beyond.

Missions

As Insurance Legal Counsel, you will contribute to a wide range of legal and business challenges, building your expertise and impact across Alan's regulatory, compliance, and commercial activities.
At any point in time, your missions could include the following:
* You will contribute to protecting Alan's competitive edge on key topics like the angle we take on regulatory requirements that apply to our products and contracts. Working alongside more senior teammates, you will develop a sharp awareness of the competitive landscape in health and disability insurance, learn to articulate Alan's risk appetite, and help turn complex regulatory constraints into practical business solutions.
* You will support Alan's legal involvement in key business conversations, contributing to RFP responses, contractual negotiations with clients and partners, and direct engagement with prospects. You will develop your negotiation skills and regulatory expertise in high-stakes settings, with guidance from the broader legal team.
* You will contribute to our product excellence and the protection of our members, helping to identify optimal ways to meet regulatory requirements in our products while improving member experience (e.g., on pricing components, options definition, UX design, or how we manage complaints).
* You will support our insurance compliance posture: you will help translate regulatory obligations into Alan's tools and operational processes, contribute to responses to inspections and audits, and participate in compliance reporting to Alan's relevant internal bodies, building your understanding of how exposure is managed proactively.
* You will support insurance compliance projects across Alan's growing markets. Your work will primarily focus on France, with opportunities to contribute to international compliance projects, helping ensure a robust set-up across Alan's markets as you grow your experience.
* You will contribute to efforts to influence regulatory evolutions and help maintain productive relationships with insurance regulators, in collaboration with regulatory affairs and public affairs teammates.
* You will help increase Alan's legal autonomy by contributing to internal legal frameworks, templates, and decision-making guidelines. You will share learnings with teammates, participate in identifying which matters can be handled in-house versus with external support, and actively use AI tools to improve efficiency within your scope.

You will work as part of the Corporate Unit, led by Marion Bergeret, where teammates from diverse backgrounds combine their skills and intelligence to overcome hurdles and anticipate Alan's future growth. In your daily work, you will collaborate closely with and be mentored by Elise Toureau, Alan's senior insurance legal counsel.
You will also work closely with Alan's Business, Product and Care teams, finding the best pragmatic solutions to the questions raised.
At Alan, we embrace that roles evolve and expand beyond their initial scope. Your journey will be filled with opportunities to grow. You'll be empowered to tackle new challenges across multiple domains (e.g. new vertical openings, public sector opportunities, regulated product bets, public affairs), building a unique path that matches your ambitions and directly impacts the future of healthcare.

Key outcomes after six months
* Contributed meaningfully to the legal and regulatory dimension of several business opportunities, including at least one RFP response or contractual negotiation, demonstrating growing autonomy and a practical understanding of Alan's positioning.
* Taken ownership of defined legal workstreams from start to finish (e.g., analysis of a compliance requirement, contribution to a product competitiveness review, or support on a regulatory reporting project), showing reliability, quality drafting, and the ability to flag and escalate risks appropriately.
* Provided responsive legal contributions to different internal teams (e.g., Care, Sales) on various matters, earning their trust as a reliable legal partner who understands Alan's goals and provides practical solutions.
* Contributed to team rituals and legal templates or frameworks that increase Alan's legal autonomy (e.g., participating in knowledge sharing sessions, updating legal summaries or playbooks).
* Demonstrated confidence in Alan's written culture, earned trust as a reliable voice on insurance legal matters, and shown clear progress toward greater autonomy.

Profile we are looking for

The Insurance Legal Counsel role requires solid foundational expertise in key areas:
* Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of insurance law and/or social protection law experience at a top insurance law firm or an insurance company.
* Exposure to commercial insurance topics, including health and/or disability insurance contracts, whether through advising clients, litigation, or in-house work.
* Familiarity with insurance regulatory frameworks, including ACPR guidelines, insurance distribution rules, and legal regulations applicable to health and disability insurance contracts.
* Bonus - experience on international markets and drafting in English.
* Bonus - experience at a regulatory authority would be a plus.
* Languages: Fluency in French and professional English (written and spoken).

You'll thrive in this role if:
* Innovative problem-solving: Challenger mindset, creativity, willingness to explore new solutions and take considered risks, with a drive to learn new practices in line with Alan's goals.
* Rigor and pragmatism: Attention to detail, focus on quality combined with simplification.
* Business mind: Pragmatic understanding of what really matters and creates value versus theoretical legal points, with a growing confidence in representing Alan's positions with clients and partners.
* Intellectual curiosity: Appetite to become an expert on types of work you are less familiar with, and openness to being mentored and coached.
* Missionary mindset: Passion about working on an ambitious project with highly engaged teammates, hands-on.
* Automation enthusiast: Interest in leveraging technology and AI tools to streamline legal processes, improve efficiency, and scale legal operations.
For this opportunity, we are aiming to hire within the C0-D level ranges
