About the role
Act as the tax manager leading the indirect tax compliance and advisory matters in Brazil, ensuring full adherence to tax legislation and support to internal stakeholders. This role is accountable to manage projects to reduce tax risks and exposures, as well to detect and execute on opportunity areas in processes, ways of workings and tax initiatives. Responsible for managing the team and processes related to the calculation, reconciliation, and reporting of indirect taxes. Interface with internal departments, external consultants, auditors, and government authorities to ensure consistent compliance and process improvements. Strengthen the tax governance model by ensuring accuracy in indirect tax reporting and alignment across Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Customer Care, and Legal. Lead strategic tax projects, including the implementation of special tax regimes (e.g., ICMS incentives), digital transformation initiatives, and adherence to the Brazilian Tax Reform (LC 214). Generate synthesized information regarding tax reform changes in processes and systems, during 2026 and the transitional period, for making decision purposes. Enhance internal tax advisory capacity and proactively mitigate risks through legislation monitoring, system validations, and business partnering.
Key responsibilities
* Lead projects related to the identification and mitigation of potential tax risks and exposures, as well as identification of opportunities and execution to ensure benefit received.
* Continuous revision of the WOW to ensure that processes, master data information, systems profile and transactionsperformed by the Company fulfills the tax requirements on timely and efficient basis.
* Coordinate monthly closings and ensure accurate indirect tax calculations and reconciliations.
* Supervise the preparation and timely submission of tax returns and ancillary obligations (SPEDs, EFD-Reinf, DCTFWeb, FCI, CIAP, etc.)
* Provide internal advisory on indirect taxation to other departments and support legal with contract and litigation analysis.
* Analyze legislative changes and lead implementation of required process/system adjustments.
* Ensure adequate configuration for indirect tax compliance in SAP and related systems.
* Monitor special tax regimes and ensure correct application in operational and accounting flows.
* Identify opportunities for tax credits and incentives.
* Support internal and external audit processes and implement mitigation plans when risks are identified.
* Mentor team members and ensure cross-training and development.
* Maintain updated documentation of procedures and controls, driving continuous improvement.
Qualifications and skills
* Deep knowledge of Brazilian Indirect Taxes, and WHT (ICMS, ICMS-ST, DIFAL, IPI, PIS/COFINS, IRRF, ISSRF, PCC, INSS).
* Brazilian GAAP knowledge.
* Understanding of the Brazilian tax reform and its potential impacts. Clarity on changes that will be required during transitional period, in order to guarantee fulfillment of tax reform obligations for short, medium and long-term purposes.
* Team leader able to motivate and engage teams and develop talent.
* Proven record in project management and transformation projects.
* Review of processes and identification of areas of opportunity as well as execution of identified opportunities to ensure improved ways of working and efficiently fulfill tax reporting obligations.
* Proven experience in tax compliance, consulting, and fiscal risk mitigation.
* Strong SAP knowledge (FI, SD, MM) and tax automation tools (Experience with Guepardo will be a plus).
* Advanced Excel and data analysis skills applied to tax processes and strategic decision-making.
* Ability to interpret legislation and translate tax rules into effective system and process configurations
* Experience with internal/external audits and interface with tax authorities.
* Proven leadership in managing indirect tax teams and cross-functional initiatives.
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Law; fluent in Portuguese and advanced in English
