Descripción del puesto:

WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group's Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet. The Trade Policy and Facilitation Unit (WKPTT) is part of the Prosperity Vice-Presidency. In WKPTT, we are responsible for delivering analytic, advisory, financial and convening services in the areas of trade policy, trade facilitation, logistics and connectivity, and regional integration. WKPTT is hiring two Trade Interns to contribute to analytical and technical assistance engagements on trade-related issues in low- and middle-income countries across different regions. The focus will be on advancing our knowledge on global value chain (GVC) reshaping and its implications for trade and jobs. Duties and Responsibilities The interns will support the unit's analytical work on GVC reshaping and its implications for trade and employment. Duties include: Review relevant academic and policy literature on GVC reshaping, trade policy, and labor market outcomes to ground the analytical work in current research. Collect and compile diverse trade and GVC-related measures - such as GVC participation measures, domestic value added in exports - from multiple data sources, disaggregated by sector, different types of countries, and other relevant criteria. Explore the possibility of identifying specific value chains via detailed supplier linkages data. Analyze and descriptively depict emerging trends of recent years based on the compiled data, including, where feasible, an exploration of implications of GVC reshaping for LMICs. Support the development of an econometric model (such as a gravity model) designed to capture the changing role of policy variables (including tariffs, non-tariff measures, and trade agreements) and other determinants for countries' trade performance and GVC participation. Contribute to the preparation of analytical outputs, including data visualizations, background notes, and sections of reports
