Within the GCAP Joint Venture, in the GCAP Compliance and Ethics UO, we are looking for a Compliance Data Protection Specialist (CDPS) for GCAP HQ in Reading (UK).
Responsible for supporting the CDPM ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and relevant internal policies in the data protection domain. The CDPS will be involved in:
* Monitoring internal compliance;
* Data Protection impact and assessments;
* Leading and evaluating risk relating to privacy and data protection across the organisation;
* Working collaboratively with senior stakeholders to promote compliance;
* Advising the organisation on data protection questions and issues;
* Instructing legal teams to prepare contracts such as data processing and data sharing agreements.
Responsible for supporting the CDPM ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and relevant internal policies in the data protection domain. The CDPS will be involved in:
* Oversee the organisation's data protection framework;
* Conduct and supervise data protection impact assessments and related privacy risk analyses;
* Identify, evaluate and manage risks related to privacy and data protection across the organization;
* Provide specialistic advice and guidance to the organisation on data protection matters;
* Support and coordinate the preparation of legal documentation relating to personal data processing;
* Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders and key business functions to promote a culture of compliance;
* Monitor and promote internal compliance with data protection and broader regulatory requirements.
The Data Protection Specialist will help improve compliance by demonstrating a daily commitment to fostering a culture of compliance in organisation offering a clear point of contact and an open door to raise questions and concerns about important privacy issues.
The Data Protection Specialist will report directly to CDPM.
Key Accountabilities:
* Provide general support to the CDPM in Compliance and Data Protection, within the scope of the Head of Compliance and Ethics role and responsibility;
* Provide support to the CDPM in identifying, assessing, and managing legal and regulatory risks in the areas related to the Data Protection Policies and internal regulations and the ethical conduct and corporate governance standards within the Company that could impact the Company's operations, reputation, or financial performance;
* Provide support to the NatCo, in coordination with the CDPM, in identifying, assessing, and managing legal and regulatory risks in the areas related to the Data Protection Policies and internal regulations;
* Provide, in coordination with the CDPM, the performance of the coordinating data-related activities across the NatCos ensuring consistent standards, timely execution and full alignment with the JV data governance framework;
* Provide, in coordination with the CDPM, the performance of overseeing data privacy and security programs to protect sensitive information and mitigate data breach risks;
* Provide, in coordination with the CDPM, the performance of the risk assessments conduction, ensuring that appropriate risk management practices are in place throughout the Company in the Data Protection domain;
* Provide, in coordination with the CDPM, e the performance of developing, maintaining, and updating relevant policies and registers;
* Provide, in coordination with the CDPM, the performance of overseeing data breaches and processing activity records;
* Provide, in coordination with the CDPM, the performance of Conducting DPIAs and implementing risk mitigation strategies;
* Provide, in coordination with the CDPM, the performance of Offering data protection guidance and support;
* Implement solutions to continuously improve Data Protection processes and tools;
* Provide support to the CDPM in ensuring the provision of appropriate training in respect of policies owned by the Compliance function for the specific domain.
Objectives:
* Provide support in the performance of overseeing data privacy;
* Provide support in the performance of risk assessment conduction and managing regulatory risks;
* Provide support in the performance of offering data protection guidance and support;
* Provide support in the coordination of the coordinating data-related activities across the NatCos ensuring consistents standards;
* Implement solutions to continuously improve Legal and Compliance processes and tools.
Essential Qualifications:
* University degree in Legal, Business Administration, Political Science, or equivalent education in own field of expertise;
* Adequate experience of advising on compliance with UK compliance legislation as a first priority or other internationally well known national legislation equivalent to UK legislation, with specific regard to the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act and EU GDPR;
* Adequate experience of operating concerning Data Protection matter in an in-house environment for not less than 5 years;
* Communication: Adequate Verbal and Written Communication Skills;
* Governance Expertise: Deep understanding of corporate governance principles and best practices;
* Legal and Regulatory Knowledge: Adequate knowledge of laws and regulations relating to GDPR and Data Protection, anti bribery and corruption and anti-trust/competition laws and regulations and ethical business conduct and experience of operating an international environment;
* Stakeholder Management: Fairly good Stakeholder Management with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including law firms, customers and industry bodies;
* Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve complex issues;
* Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience of advising on Japanese and / or Italian compliance legislation, and other national legislation that can be extraterritorially applied to the Company.
