Why are we searching for you?
We accumulate loads and loads of data. We want to make informed choices throughout the business. Thus, we need you to keep the data flowing and to unlock it for other data and business functions. To support this, we need a data engineer who takes ownership of keeping data reliable, complete, and up to date. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining the pipelines and infrastructure that turn raw data into trusted inputs for analytics, product, and business teams.
Our data team is the place where all company data comes together. As a Data Engineer, you'll be a key contributor to the foundation of our data stack, ensuring it scales with the business and remains robust as data volumes and use cases grow.
We are a small team and you will be the trusted expert for all topics around Data Engineering. This sounds like your kind of challenge? Let us know why!

How does your team look like?
At Studyportals, the Big Data & Business Intelligence Team is responsible for delivering quality data for the rest of the company. You will be joining an existing team of four members - a Big Data Team Lead reporting to the CTO, two Data Analytics Engineers, and a BI Analyst. All very smart people! Big Data is part of the Product Engineering department that is about 40 in size. As the Data Engineer you will be at the strong foundation of the data-value pyramid. You will make sure all our data is always complete and up to date so that your colleagues can process them and distill insights from them. At the end this will enable data-informed decisions across the business.

What are your responsibilities and tasks?
* Design, build, and own production-grade ETL pipelines with strong data quality guarantees
* Operate and evolve our AWS-based data platform (EMR, Redshift, Glue, zeroETL)
* Run and improve core data tooling such as Airflow, dbt, Redshift, and Grafana
* Ensure reliability in production by monitoring pipelines, debugging incidents, and preventing recurrence
* Shape data architecture and infrastructure, contributing to Infrastructure-as-Code
* Optimize performance and cost efficiency across the data stack as data volumes grow
* Enable the business with trusted data that is well-documented, secure, and easy to use
* Act as a go-to expert for data engineering topics and decisions across the company

* Competitive salary including a bonus and pension.
* 32 vacation days (including bank holidays) you have the flexibility to take your holidays whenever you want (e.g., be off on Chinese New Year instead of King's Day).
* Reimbursement of your work-related travel costs.
* Flexibility to work remotely 3 days per week, including a remote working allowance.
* Possibility to work from abroad 2 times a year.
* An annual personal development budget because personal growth is KEY!
