The project: An exciting opportunity to join the Cost and Commercial Management team working with a small selection of our key strategic Education sector clients. The role will involve advising across a full range of cost planning, project budgeting, forecasting and strategic procurement services.
You'll be responsible for:
* Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.
* Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
* Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
* Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
* Being a key interface with client, stakeholders and other consultants at all project stages.
* Handling of contractual frameworks and standard form of contract.
* Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and hence improve the services provided to the clients.
* Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
You'll need to have:
* Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.
* Previous experience working with Education sector clients is desirable, but not essential.
* JCT form of contract experience essential with some knowledge of NEC.
* Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
* Some knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
* Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on contract administration.
* Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.
* Strong understanding of industry best practice.
* Understanding of hot topic issues such as sustainability, social value, carbon reduction impacting public sector.
* Capex V Opex cost analysis/advice.
* A degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent.
* Professional membership i.e. MRICS (Essential).
