As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK's first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Assistant Planner to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you'll be doing
* Ensuring that the programme content is functionally compliant with the planning procedures and guidance.
* Tender: Develop and agree by collaboration a logical sequence and methodology ensuring that the most efficient design, procurement &construction strategy is adopted for the delivery of the works under the supervision/review of Lead Planner.
* Producing and documenting the planning deliverables including programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports alongside producing the Tender Programme and supporting information in accordance with the tender requirements which is to be reviewed by Lead planner.
* Contract: Assist the planning team in the production, management, and maintenance of the contract programme in accordance with the planning procedures.
* Supporting the lead planner in the implementation and maintenance of project controls processes for scheduling, including the production of monthly reports, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis.
* Providing support, as required to the BIM Co-ordinators to meet the project requirements or tender submission deliverables.
* Data Analysis: Aid the planning team to produce project data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify deviations, and make data-driven decisions for project improvement.
Who we're looking for
* Knowledge in project management tools and software (like Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6 or ASTA) commonly used in the industry, as these are integral to creating and managing project schedules.
* Basic understanding of project planning principles, including scheduling, progress monitoring.
* Basic understanding of various forms of tender/contract documents, and specifications.
* Familiarity with project management methodologies.
* Prior exposure to project planning, whether through internships, coursework, or entry-level positions, providing a foundational understanding of the planning process.
* Practical experience in using project planning software, even at a basic level, to demonstrate familiarity with tools (like P6/Asta).
* Involvement in collaborative projects, where teamwork and communication skills were exercised.
* Experience in construction or other sectors with transferable skills that align with the demands of the construction field
* Analytical and problem solving
