Role Overview
This position will support the Ground Systems and Mission Operations (GSMO) contract at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center as an Operations Systems Engineer for the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Flight Operations Team (FOT).

Must be a U.S. Citizen to be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities
Communications & Outreach Support

Operational & Program Support
* Support GPM Subsystem Engineers with specific tasks as assigned.

Content & Platform Support
Protentional items to support include, but are not limited to:

* Performing trending analysis on certain subsystems, the FOT has identified several trending items that would be beneficial to automate.
* Coordinate and work with C&DH/FSW engineers to review current trending products and develop automated product generation utilizing the GPM Integrated Trending and Plotting System (ITPS), GNU Plot, and desired scripting language (Bash, Perl, or Python).
* Exposure to live GIT environment and proper management of GIT repositories.

* Develop scripts for GPM's transition to GMAT (candidate has some STK experience according to resume). This is a big project, which would require a significant time commitment.
* Coordinate with GNC and AGS engineers for specific requirements and system capabilities.
* Other potential opportunities include:
* Analyzing gyro drift during spacecraft maneuvers to predict when a gyro calibration may be required to meet mission requirements.
* Calculating RWA drag coefficients based on telemetry to improve the fidelity the GPM Flatsat's RWA simulation
* Coordinate with responsible system engineer(s) to ensure tasks are completed

* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Experience with STK, C++, and Python
* Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams
* Interest in detailed Spacecraft (SC) subsystem performance and analysis
* Learning Outcomes
* Exposure to specific GPM SC Subsystems and Ground System systems
* Hands-on experience supporting real-world flight operations
* Mentorship in detailed SC trend and performance analysis

Basic Compensation:
$31.35/hr- $46.97/hr
The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
