The Reality Labs Research (RL-R) at Meta brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of AR and VR, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. Our team is looking for the next generation of scientists and engineers to tackle the most ambitious problems in machine perception. The primary role of this internship is to conduct research into privacy-preserving technologies, with the goal of developing and applying them to machine perception applications and devices. Our internships are fourteen (14) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the Spring, Summer & Fall.
Primary Mission: Build a comprehensive testing harness for TrustZone applications used by Meta's Device Safety team. Evaluate rehosting vs. emulation approaches for testing ARM TrustZone applications on x86 architecture Implement chosen testing solution with focus on rehosting trusted application code for scalable testing across multiple device types Develop fuzzing capabilities for trusted applications, enabling direct testing of security-critical logic Research and apply state-of-the-art techniques to achieve the primary goal of this internship
Profil requis du candidat:
Currently pursuing or recently completed PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field Specialization in systems security, operating systems security, or computer architecture Strong programming skills and experience with low-level systems programming Solid understanding of ARM architecture, embedded systems, and hardware security concepts Knowledge of security fundamentals including vulnerability research, exploitation techniques, and defensive mechanisms Experience with Linux/Unix systems and development environments Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and deliver technical results Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for tackling novel security challenges Excellent communication skills for collaborating across interdisciplinary teams Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment Proven track record of strong interdisciplinary research collaborations and delivery of research prototypes Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship Direct experience with TrustZone or other TEE technologies (Intel SGX, AMD SEV) Experience with QEMU, ARM emulation, or similar virtualization technologies Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as: IEEE S&P, CCS, Usenix Security, etc
