Duties and Responsibilities
This internship is located within the Office of the Chief of Staff in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. The incumbent will report directly to the Mission Planning Officer within the Office of the Chief of Staff. The objective of this internship is to contribute directly to discharging the responsibilities of the Office of the Chief of Staff among which include - 1. Effective functioning of mission-wide integrated procedures and systems for information analysis and management. 2. Enhance mission strategic and operational planning. More specifically, the intern will contribute towards the Mission's performance monitoring, specifically in relation to operational impact assessments. The estimated start date of the proposed internship is Tuesday 7 April 2026 for an initial period of 3 months with the possibility of renewal for a further 3 months. Expected Benefits 1. Develop an understanding/some knowledge of how the UN plans and monitors the implementation of its mandate. 2. Develop an understanding of information/data management systems in a United Nations peacekeeping operation. Duties include: Contribution towards the preparations for the Mission's annual informal consultations with member states and assist with follow-up to questions received 1. Assist with compiling and presentation of data and inputs for potential Q&A from Member States on the Mission's budget proposal for 2026-2027. 2. Assist with the collection of data and input for addressing follow-up questions. Contribution towards the implementation of UNHQ and Secretary-General's initiatives 1. Assist with the collection of data and inputs for the Mission's contribution to the 9th Global A4P+ monitoring report 2. Assist with the input of data to the A4P+ IT Platform Contribution towards the implementation of the Comprehensive Planning and Performance Assessment System 1. Assist with clearing the backlog of recommendations within the Mission's Comprehensive Planning and Performance Assessment system by compiling status updates on the implementation of the recommendations. 2. Assist with monitoring the implementation of the revised CPAS Impact and Outcome Indicators. Other tasks 1. Work with relevant offices with the goal of assisting with the collection and disaggregation of pertinent data from the Mission's programmatic activities such as statistics on the number of communities/women/youth/municipalities which benefitted/participated in specific projects, including the development of a monthly Power BI to display such statistics. 2. Reviewing relevant guidelines and SOPs by performing background research to provide the team with possible solutions. 3. Perform any other tasks as directed by the Mission Planning Officer.
Qualifications/special skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is desirable. Knowledge of project management is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
